EASY BEAN CHICKPEA CRISPBREAD

Easy Bean, a Somerset based bean product company, have just launched a new range of chickpea crispbreads, following the success of their one-pot bean dishes, which are the only Fairtrade ready meals in the UK.

The crispbreads are all handmade at the new bakery that the Easy Bean MD, Christina Baskerville, has created in Somerset and are made with chickpea flour rather than wheat flour, so are gluten and wheat free, full of fibre and veggie friendly. The chickpea flour is mixed with buttermilk sourced from local farms, and then the biscuits are generously spiced, and topped with toasted seeds. The crispbreads come in 3 delicious flavours: seeds and black pepper, mung bean and chive, and moroccan spice.

Christina very kindly sent me a packet of each to try out, and I think I've found my new favorite snack. I can honestly see these featuring in every picnic over the summer, and there's a pack of them sitting in my desk drawer, ready to fill my rumbling mid morning tummy!

I had a little indoor picnic last week and topped the crunchy, crumbly biscuits with the following toppings:

Chilli avocado on the mung bean and chive crispbread:

Wild boar pate with the seed and pepper crispbread:

Homemade baba ganoush on the moroccan spice:

And another of the pepper and seed crispbreads with Spanish ham:

The crispbreads are really versatile, and can be dipped in soups, topped with whatever you fancy or just nibbled on their own. I think they are a really great alternative to other big brand savoury biscuits, and offer something for those who are gluten and wheat intolerant, as well as anyone who just loves flavoursome snacks!

Easy Bean crispbreads are now available in over 250 branches of Holland and Barrett, as well as London delis Partridges and Daylesford Organic, or if you can't get to one of these then you can order direct, by emailing sales@easybean.co.uk for delivery straight to your home.
